Have you ever had a thought that you just cannot wrap your mind around? For me, I cannot get beyond the fact that the God who spoke the universe into existence knows me by name! Is that not an incredible thought? It is absolutely amazing that I can have a personal relationship with the Creator of all that I see, hear, smell and touch. That is awesome and humbling all at once. My God is beyond comprehension, yet here are some things that I know to be true but still amaze me…..
My God knows the stars by name, YET He knows the number of hairs on my head.
My God can destroy a city in His righteous judgment, YET He has poured out mercy upon me.
My God created the universe and sustains its very existence, YET He is concerned with the intimate details of my little life.
My God exists in three persons, YET He is one triune God.
My God is eternal without beginning or end, YET He created time.
My God is sovereign and does as He pleases, YET He is restrained by His own immutability.
My God is holy and hates sin, YET He allows evil to exist, for a time, and uses even it to accomplish His purposes.
My God has a perfect plan and purpose for all of history, YET He somehow accomplishes those plans using sinful, imperfect human beings.
My God has revealed Himself to me through His Word, YET He is still too big to comprehend.
My God is self-sufficient and doesn’t “need” man in any way, shape, or form, YET He chose to seek and save lost sinners, purchasing us with the blood of His only Son.
My God is all-wise, YET He endures my ignorance.
My God allows me the freedom to make poor choices and stumble into sin, YET I cannot thwart the plans of God because He can even use my failures for His glory.
My God is all-powerful and could crush the earth with His breath, YET He sees each sparrow when it falls.
My God is omniscient, YET He doesn’t destroy me when He knows my sinful thoughts.
My God is wrathful and just, YET He is merciful and forgiving.
My God is King of kings and Lord of lords, YET He chose ME to be His child!!
May I never “get over” the magnificence of my God, for He is worthy of all of my wonder, awe, and adoration.
Women’s Discipleship Training Program
by Jean Klughart
I’d like to invite you to consider applying to be part of the Women’s Discipleship Training Program of Denton Bible Church. This is the women’s version of Tommy and Charles’s Young Guns (Men’s Program).
Over 9 months we take a deep dive into the Bible, learning the meta-narrative of scripture, camping on the Gospel and the Character of God—getting to know Him in a transforming way, learning to study the Bible for ourselves, to apply it daily and to share it skillfully. Filling up in order to spill over into the lives He places along our paths. We are very application oriented!
As believers we are called to be disciples of Jesus Christ and then to make disciples of Jesus Christ. Many have the desire but don’t know where to begin. Our goal is to make disciples who will make disciples who will make disciples who will make disciples (in the ministry of multiplication)…until He comes. And to train you to do likewise in a very dynamic, hands on way.
Here’s a super short video that includes testimonies from a few women who have been through it describing both their angst in considering it and the fruit of taking the plunge.
Lauren Edgar, the last woman on the video (who says it’s been 8 years since she did program), went on to say (not included in this video) that if her house was on fire and she could only grab one thing [besides her husband and Bible], she would grab her certificate from “the Women’s Discipleship Program” over her diploma from Dallas Theological Seminary because it was the most pivotal and transforming year of her life that everything else has flowed out from.
Here are links to our website and Facebook page where you can learn more. Even if this isn’t the year for you, do you know someone else who might benefit from it that you might share this with?
We start in early August. So don’t delay. If you’re interested, go on and check these out. If you have any questions, please call, text or email me (940-300-3234, WDTP@dentonbible.org). We’re praying some of you might feel called to trust Him with this next step!
Trusting His lead,
Impact Women’s Mentoring
by Mary Johnson
Haven’t we all wished we could have walked with Jesus – listening as He taught the Sermon on the Mount, witnessing the centurion’s astounding faith, or watching as Christ healed Peter’s mother-in-law? If only we could have been there, to do everyday life with Jesus, surely, we would then grow more like Him. If we had seen Jesus’ faith in action as He poured into the lives of a few disciples, then maybe we could impact the world like they did.
Thankfully, the same discipleship process that Jesus used is available to the women of Denton Bible Church. IMPACT Women’s Mentoring matches mature women of faith with younger Christian women as they pursue friendship and wisdom through real-life situations, focusing on gospel-centered encouragement. By doing life together, both the mentor and the mentee learn through study, prayer, and time in the Word what it means to live like Jesus in today’s world. If you would like to pour into the life of a younger woman or you would like to be mentored by an older woman, please visit www.dentonbible.org/impact to find out more information and to fill out a profile application.
